KABUCHI Post Rest / dia: approx 18.5cm

In Okinawa , the "Kabuchi" traditionally served as a cushion when carrying loads on the head but remains a practical accessory even in modern times, commonly used when displaying round objects like watermelons and pineapples during festive occasions. It can also be utilized as a pot rest.

The kabuchi is made from Kuba a palm plant native to the region, has been an integral part of people's lives for centuries. Rich in oil, possessing antibacterial properties, and resistant to decay, Kuba is a versatile material used in various aspects of daily life, from building walls and roofs for homes to crafting fans, wrapping pots for boiling water, and more.

*Due to the use of natural materials, each piece is unique, varying in shape and size (including sections with natural indentations, which are not considered defects).

Yonaha Mingu
The traditional craft of utilizing Kuba from Yonaguni, the westernmost Okinawan island, is embodied in the artisanal products created by Yonaha Mingu. The craft workshop produces and sells artifacts centered around Kuba in an effort to help preserve regions cultural heritage.
