Kashizara (Metal Plate) / material: Brass, Tin / size: 18cm x 10cm
Each of Taiki Sugishima’s small metal plates / trays have unique surfaces caused by chemical reactions in the tinned surface during production. The small plates have small feet on the bottom to raise them slightly from the table surface. ***Each plate is shown individually. The first image shows the available plate. The material is sensitive to salty and acidic foods which could cause staining.
Taiki Sugishima
Metal artist Taiki Sugishima completed the doctoral program in Sculpture at Hiroshima City University Graduate School of Arts in 2001. He later studied the traditional Japanese metalware craft of tankin (hammering) as well as forging, with two craftsmen skilled in the respective techniques. Currently he produces a variety of work in different materials from cooking pots and utensils to objects, sculptural pieces, and custom work for architectural projects.
